About GoutSafe

GoutSafe exists to answer one question well: can I eat this with gout? We turn published purine and fructose data into a clear, sourced grade for 509 foods, and we show our confidence on every one.

Who builds this

GoutSafe is built by a small independent team focused on making nutrition science clear and usable. We are not physicians or dietitians, and we do not pretend to be. What we are good at is sourcing data carefully, being transparent about its limits, and presenting it plainly.

Why we have no "medically reviewed" badge

Many health sites put a "medically reviewed by Dr. X" stamp on their pages. We will not add one unless a named, credentialed professional genuinely reviews our content. Claiming credentials we do not have would be the opposite of trustworthy. Instead, we earn trust the harder way: we cite our sources, show our method, and mark our confidence on every food. You can read exactly how we grade foods.

How we keep the data accurate

Our values come from the USDA Purine Database, USDA FoodData Central, and peer-reviewed literature. We never overwrite a source value silently; corrections are versioned and dated. The data was last reviewed June 13, 2026. If you find something that looks wrong, please let us know and we will check it.

How we make money

Some product links on GoutSafe are Amazon affiliate links, and we may earn a small commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This never changes how a food is graded. Grades come from the data, not from what is for sale.

Not medical advice. GoutSafe is educational and is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Always talk to your doctor or dietitian about your own diet and gout management.
